SUBSTITUTE PLANS:
Spanish II: compare your answers with a partner from the homework on pages 243-244. Work together to make sure that you both understand the material and that you have answered correctly on each exercise. Hand in the homework. Practice the dialogue on p. 242. This will be the verbal evaluation for the upcoming test so take the time to translate it with a partner, then practice both parts several times until you are comfortable. Homework: p. 242 Ej 1. See you Wednesday.
Spanish IV: Work with a partner and compare your outlines for the various regions of Spain. Make sure your outline is complete and accurate. We will not have the test on Spain before break. More info. on that on Wednesday. Divide up the article on Madrid in UNA MIRADA A ESPANA p. 84-89. Each person should work on vocab and translation for that section. You will only need to have vocab written for your section, then share the lists. Go through the reading if you have time, translating as you go. Be thorough and do it with a smile! This is the last reading we will do on Spain, so do a good job. Madrid is a great city, and an important one for you to know about. Hopefully, one day, you will get to go there! Hasta miércoles.

Makeup Policy
If you are not in school for any reason please check this site to see what you have missed. It is updated around lunch time each day. Do not come to me and ask, "what did we do yesterday?" You should already know! You should simply request what it is that you now know you need. If you have something due on the day that you miss, and it can be e-mailed to me IT SHOULD BE SENT IN ON TIME. Any other work must be turned in the DAY you return, not the next class. If you miss a quiz or test, it must be made up the DAY you return. You are responsible for your grade at all times.
Automatic Translation Policy
The use of online or other electronic resources to translate text from English to Spanish or Spanish to English is strictly prohibited unless specifically noted. The purpose of translation is to practice language skills and to deepen or to clarify your understanding of the material. Using software to translate accomplishes neither of these goals. It represents no real work on your part and is a form of cheating. Infractions will result in a grade of zero and disciplinary measures will be followed as outlined in the Student Handbook. Online dictionaries may be used, however, in a manner consistent with the use of paper dictionaries. In other words, you may use them to define words, find idiomatic expressions, look up geographical names, use grammar summaries, etcetera. If you are in doubt about the use of resources, it is your responsibility to ask and find out what is acceptable.
